What is Invisalign?

Blue Ridge Dental is proud to be a certified Invisalign provider. We feel that this is a very important service to offer due to the demand by many of our patients to improve the alignment of their teeth. Invisalign uses a series of clear aligners that are custom-molded to fit you. The virtually invisible aligners gradually reposition your teeth into a smile you’ll be proud of. Teeth that are crowded or too widely spaced can create unhealthy conditions, including swollen gums, redness and pocketing, all of which are signs of periodontal disease.

As Invisalign invisibly straightens your teeth, it can also do great things for the health of your mouth. Unlike traditional orthodontics or braces, Invisalign has no metal bands or wires to trap food and plaque. Maintaining a good oral hygiene program will also reduce chances of plaque buildup, tooth decay and periodontal disease. We are happy to schedule consultation appointments to determine if you might be a candidate for Invisalign. Let us know how we can help!

How It Works

1

Consultation

During your first visit to Blue Ridge Dental, we will evaluate your oral health and discuss how you would like to change your smile.

2

Digital Impressions

We employ sophisticated digital scanning technology to generate an accurate 3D model of your teeth, replacing traditional molds. This digital representation forms the basis for your tailored Invisalign® treatment plan.

3

Treatment Plan

Following the treatment plan, a series of custom-made, clear plastic aligners are produced. Each aligner is intended to be worn for approximately two weeks before moving on to the next one, gradually adjusting the teeth to the desired alignment.

4

Custom Aligners

According to the treatment plan, a sequence of tailor-made, transparent plastic aligners is created. Each aligner should be worn for roughly two weeks before advancing to the next, steadily moving the teeth into their correct position.

5

Daily Wear

You should wear the Invisalign aligners for a minimum of 22 hours daily, taking them out only for eating, drinking, and dental care.

6

Regular Checkups

During the treatment, you will come to Blue Ridge Dental every five to six weeks to verify that your teeth are moving according to the plan. If needed, we can make adjustments to the treatment strategy.

7

Completion

After you have worn the entire series of aligners, your teeth should be in their final, corrected positions. We will assess the results and might suggest further steps, like retainers, to preserve the new alignment.

What are the advantages of Invisalign?

Many individuals are ideal candidates for Invisalign clear aligners. However, for complex orthodontic cases that require substantial movement, clear aligners might not be the best option. Additionally, some might prefer traditional braces to avoid the possibility of losing trays.

Invisalign® is an excellent choice for:

  • Straightening your teeth discreetly without visible braces
  • Enjoying foods that are typically restricted with conventional braces
  • Simplifying the cleaning and brushing of your teeth
Who is Invisalign for?

Invisalign is suitable for most teens and adults who need mild to moderate orthodontic adjustments. This includes individuals with crooked or misaligned teeth, as well as those with significant gaps between their teeth. Invisalign can also address minor bite discrepancies. However, it’s important to note that not all orthodontic conditions can be corrected with Invisalign; more severe issues may necessitate further treatment.
